    What Participants Say

Practical and Stimulating... Just what I wanted.

Before joining the program, I was concerned that it would be too theoretical and above my head. However, the exercises were doable in the beginning and progressively became rather stimulating. The regular mental stimulation has helped me to be creative in solving problems (I live alone and this is important). I like the mix of activities used in the program each week, it makes the exercises interesting to complete. I particularly like the approach of the Fit Minds coach who assisted us with the exercises and created a conducive environment for mature adult learning as well as social interaction.

This is a stimulating program and it was what i wanted .... a practical program

    - Nimmi

It is a genuine program that works!

I have Frontotemporal dementia and being cared for at home by my partner.

We were looking for non-medical intervention to help me maintain my brain function and slow down the progression of the condition. I was lacking guidance in mental stimulation.

After joining the program, I discovered how mental stimulation can help me with my condition.

It is a well structured program. The variety of activities each week give me the regular mental stimulation that I need. The bonus was the social interaction that I appreciate very much, especially in this pandemic when we are social isolating.

It is a genuine program that works!

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is Brain Aerobics suitable if I have memory concerns?

Yes. Brain Aerobics is suitable for older adults who would like to keep their minds active, including those who have mild memory concerns or simply want to maintain their cognitive health. The activities are designed to encourage thinking, conversation and social interaction in a relaxed and supportive environment.

If you or your family have concerns about significant memory changes or dementia, please contact us. We can discuss whether Brain Aerobics or our Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) program would be the most appropriate option.

Do I need to be "good" at puzzles?

Not at all! Brain Aerobics is not about getting every answer right. The activities are designed to encourage participation, stimulate different areas of the brain and promote enjoyable conversations. Everyone works at their own pace, and the focus is on having fun while keeping the brain active.

What if I don't know the answers?

That's perfectly okay! There is no pressure to know every answer. Our sessions are about exploring ideas, sharing different perspectives and learning together. Sometimes the conversations that develop are just as valuable as finding the correct answer.

What types of activities will we do?

Each session includes a variety of enjoyable cognitive activities designed to exercise different parts of the brain, including memory, language, critical thinking, visual/spatial skills and computation. Activities vary each week to keep sessions interesting, engaging and appropriately challenging.

    How long is each session?

Each Brain Aerobics session runs for approximately 60 minutes.
    Sessions typically include:
    Gentle physical warm-up activities.
    Language warm-up activities.
Interactive cognitive activities - solving different puzzles.
    Group discussions and conversation.
Time to connect with others in a friendly and supportive environment.

Will I be put on the spot or asked to answer questions?

No. Participation is always encouraged but never pressured. Everyone contributes in their own way, and our facilitator creates a welcoming environment where participants feel comfortable sharing ideas, asking questions and enjoying the activities together.

Do I need to attend every week?

We encourage participants to attend regularly to gain the greatest benefit. Like physical exercise, keeping the brain active is most effective when it becomes part of a regular routine. Many participants also enjoy building friendships and seeing familiar faces each week.

    What should I bring?

Just yourself and your reading glasses! All activity materials are provided. We simply encourage you to bring your curiosity, a willingness to have fun and enjoy meeting new people, making meaningful connection.
